Dr. Tuba Yamac is a patent agent in Gowlings Montréal office, practising within the Intellectual Property Group. Tuba is a registered patent agent in Canada, in Great Britain and in Europe.

She has experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, in handling European patent oppositions, in the management of IP portfolios and in providing advice on patentability, validity, infringement, and patenting strategy.

Her technological background and experience lies in the fields of materials science, engineering, nanotech, biomaterials, business methods and software and internet-related inventions. Her specific expertise includes medical devices; surgical equipment; wastewater treatment; polymeric and composite systems; diesel engine fuel pump assemblies; road surfacing, repair and related equipment; and building materials.

Before joining Gowlings, Tuba worked as a patent attorney at Keltie, London, U.K. for over five years where she gained considerable experience in patent infringement, revocation and entitlement disputes, European patent oppositions, as well as patent application drafting, prosecution, and IP portfolio management for a number of high profile U.K. clients.

Her PhD studies on the failure of artificial joint replacements led to her being commissioned to write an information booklet on medical devices for the Institute of Materials, U.K.
