Ying Hou is a technical consultant in Gowlings' Ottawa office practising in the areas of patents and trade-marks, with a special interest in intellectual property issues in China.
Prior to joining Gowlings as a Technical Consultant, Ying was a patent attorney in China where she was involved in patent drafting and prosecution involving a wide variety of technologies. She provides services to major Canadian companies doing business in China, as well as assisting Chinese companies to develop business in Canada. During her work in China, Ying was also involved in China-Canada negotiations on a memorandum of intellectual property law, as well as assisting foreign companies in business negotiations.
Ying is fluent in English and Chinese. A frequent speaker and contributor of articles, Ying has written on the subject of intellectual property law for publications in China. In Canada, she has been a guest speaker for a variety of seminars for academic and professional associations on the subject of intellectual property laws and doing business with China.
