On August 18, 2011, Snapsort Inc. (Snapsort.com) of Waterloo, Ontario announced that it had raised $500,000 from undisclosed investors to expand its algorithmic product recommendation technology from digital cameras to other verticals, starting with cars at Carsort.com and phones at Geekaphone.com.

Snapsort's goal is to help consumers make informed purchasing decisions quickly. The company spent about two years developing its platform and plans to expand into 20 domains by the end of 2011.

Gowlings advised Snapsort in this matter with a team that included Tom Hunter, Sharon Bennett, Viona Duncan and Sheena Kapoor.
