Autodesk completes cross-border acquisition of technology assets from GRIP Entertainment

On November 6, 2011, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) announced that it had acquired certain technology-related assets and hired individuals associated with GRIP Entertainment, a privately-held artificial intelligence game middleware company based in Montréal. This acquisition accelerates Autodesk’s strategy to offer a more complete, simplified solution for the creation of believable interactive characters. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Gowlings advised Autodesk in this acquisition with a team that included Douglas Clarke and David Pamenter (technology); Juliette Yip and Marie-France Béland (corporate); Luc Deshaies, Myriane Le François and Josée Gervais (employment); Lee Johnson (IP); and Marc-André Godard (tax).
