Ontario's new Confined Space Regulations and amendments to
the sector regulations, effective September 30, 2006, set out
new detailed requirements for confined space entry in Ontario.
Employers, lead employers and constructors have specific
duties to ensure these requirements are met. The new
regulations are very prescriptive and set out a detailed process
for compliance. There are significant differences from the
previous confined space entry requirements. Failure to comply
can result in unnecessary Orders, regulatory prosecution, and
criminal prosecution under Bill C-45 Amendments to the
Criminal Code. Misclassification of confined spaces could result
in lost productivity and unnecessary costs, or worse, accidents
or prosecution.
This course, designed by Norm Keith, B.A., LL.B., CRSP, a
leading employment and labour lawyer and author of Canadian
Health & Safety Law, will help you understand the new
requirements and how to comply.
The course focuses on:
- Evaluating a space to identify whether it is a confined space
- Developing an adequate confined space program
