The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires employers to ensure at least one certified member represents management and one certified member represents workers on the JHSC. After Part One certification of JHSC members, Part Two specific hazard training is required.
The first step in complying with the Part Two workplace specific hazard training requirement is for the employer to complete a workplace hazard assessment to determine "significant hazards." The second step is hazard specific training. The OHSA also requires employers to share the results of the assessment with the JHSC. JHSC members who have completed Part One training are to receive further training on the "significant hazards" as identified by the employer, in order to achieve complete certification from WSIB.
This course prepares participants for certification for industrial hazards according to WSIB certification criteria. Industrial hazard identification, assessment and control is the focus of this course.
