Health and Safety Law, this course will assist Human Resources,
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workers'
Compensation professionals deal with the Personal Information
Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and privacy in
the workplace.
The course focuses on:
- How PIPEDA regulates the collection, use, disclosure and retention of personal information
- CSA Privacy Code, its inclusion in PIPEDA, and its general application to your organization
- The current law with respect to alcohol and drug testing and employees right to privacy
- Understanding if medical surveillance programs, required by law, comply with PIPEDA
- Steps needed to safeguard employee privacy when filing a Form 7
- Privacy concerns with accident reporting to the OHS regulator
- The obligations of health care professionals to protect the privacy of injured workers
