Employers in Ontario under the workers' compensation system
may have their compliance audited by the Workplace Safety
and Insurance Board (WSIB). The WSIB utilizes their
Workwell Audit to assess compliance with health and safety
legislated requirements and best practices. Failure of the audit
can result in penalties up to $500,000.
This workshop provides an understanding of the Workwell
Audit from start to finish. In addition to reviewing the
subjects listed below, the course will include group exercises to
help you develop an action plan for your organization.
Designed under the direction of Norm Keith, B.A., LL.B.,
CRSP, a leading employment and labour lawyer and author of
Canadian Health & Safety Law, the workshop covers:
- Purpose of a Workwell Audit
- WSIB selection criteria for employers to be audited
- Evaluation process and methods of the WSIB evaluators
- Penalties for failing the audit and future implications
- Key program elements
- How to successfully complete key elements of the audit
- Communicating the action plan internally to pass the audit
- Managing the process and tracking your progress
